It’s that time of the year again ladies where we celebrate blokes at birth. It is our fourth annual Daddy Doula* awards. Woohoo! My favourite blog of the year. Get your tissues ready 🙂
All these stories are so special and moving. I just can’t imagine what it is like giving birth during the pandemic without an educated, prepared and skilled partner to support….
The 13 entries this year really provide a lovely array of experiences. And of course many of these mums had both a She Births® Doula and a Daddy Doula by their side. Demonstrating what it takes to create a wonderful and empowering birth experience a lot of the time.
The winner – although it’s a bit silly to have one really – so let’s just say what stood out to me was Daddy Doula Didier. We would love to know what story touched your heart the most?
From us to you #DaddyDoulas. We love you!
Thank you for joining us in our awakening, our transforming and birthing.

When Nadine created She Births® more than 12 years ago, one of her motivations was to skill up partners to be the support that mums really needed. It is now a huge deciding factor as to why so many couples choose She Births®.
The term Daddy Doula came out of these amazing partners actively taking part in this most important event of their lives, the birth of their child. Babies are co-created, co-birthed and co-parented – working as team makes life so much more enjoyable!
With change being the only constant these days and limits being placed on the number of people allowed in the birth room we are seeing so many partners really stepping up and getting educated, informed and confident to be the doula.
If your partner deserves a shout out please share your birth story with us here.

*As you know at She Births® we support marriage equality and respect the rights of all people regardless of sex, religion, age, gender, ability and lifestyle choice. Love is Love Always. We recognise that it’s not always a ‘dad’ that helps mum through birth.
Although we have named these awards the ‘Daddy Doula Awards’ please don’t let this discourage you from nominating your birth support partner. Dads are pretty new to this space and birth is women’s business let’s be honest. So for most blokes it is a big ask to get the courage and the skills up to be actively involved on the day. And for this, we say a big THANK YOU!
Thanks also extends to any and all of the wonderful doulas out there including Mummy Doulas, Sister Doulas, Grandma Doulas even Doggie Doulas! We love you xxx
